Pen & Ink Drawings

Pen and ink is one of my favourite mediums to work with. While other illustrators and artists can apply the pen directly to fresh paper my preference is to draw in pencil first and then to overlay ink wherever I feel the image requires it. The visible pencil marks are gently removed once the ink has dried.

This does not always give the crisp finish that direct application of ink provides, but this process allows me leeway and control during the composition phase.

Either way the results give me great satisfaction.

I use different grades of paper depending on what the drawings are required for. But I currently use Uni Pin Fine Line pens. These come in a number of nib sizes and contain a pigment ink that is water and fade proof.

Examples of my pen and ink work can be seen below.
